Roy Spencer (Roy Hampton Spencer) was born on February 22, 1900 in Scranton, North Carolina. He made his Major League debut on April 19, 1925 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 1930, his rookie year, he hit .255 with 0 home runs and 36 RBI. Spencer played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Washington Senators, Cleveland Indians, New York Giants and Brooklyn Dodgers over the course of his 12 year career.
Most people believe that Roy Spencer's best season was 1931, when he hit for a .275 average and knocked in 60 runs.
