Ron Widby (George Ronald Widby) was born on March 9, 1945 in Knoxville, Tennessee. After going to high school at Fulton (Knoxville, TN), Widby attended the University of Tennessee. Widby made his professional debut in the NFL in 1968 with the Dallas Cowboys. He played for the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers over the course of his 6 year career.

Most people believe that 1972 was Ron Widby's best year, as he had a 41.8 yard punt average.
