Roger Connor (Roger Connor) was born on July 1, 1857 in Waterbury, Connecticut. He made his Major League debut on May 1, 1880 for the Troy Trojans. In 1880, his rookie year, he hit .332 with 3 home runs and 47 RBI. Connor played for the Troy Trojans, New York Gothams, New York Giants, Philadelphia Phillies and St. Louis Perfectos over the course of his 18 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Roger Connor's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1889, when he hit for a .317 average and knocked in 130 runs. However, others believe that it was 1887, when he slugged 17 home runs, stole 43 bases, hit for a .285 average and knocked in 104 runs.
