Robertson Stadium

Originally named Jeppesen Stadim and built by the Houston Indepedent School District in 1942, Robertson Stadium is not only home to the University of Houston Cougar Football and women's soccer programs but home to the two time defending MLS Champion Houston Dynamo. It is now known as John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium, after the playing surface was named for Houston attorney John O'Quinn, who was a donor to the project.

Ground for the facilty, which is surrounded by Scott Street, Cullen Boulevard and Cougar Place Drive, was broken in 1941. The cost to build the facility at that time was $650,000 in USD. It was also home to the Houston Oilers of the AFL from 1960-64 before they moved to the Astrodome.

Currently, the stadium, which is a grass surface, seats 32,000, which makes it one of the smallest Division 1A stadiums in the nation. It featured a running track, which was removed and the playing surface was lowered some 9 feet to allow for new sidelines and end zones.

Other improvements include a $1.7 million dollar score/video board on the eastern end of the stadium in 2006, a gift from the Dynamo, who are leaving the stadium in the next three years for their own facility. Other improvement plans include replacing the end zone seating and adding an upper deck, which would increase the seating capacity to 50,000 but there is no time table for construction at the time of this writing.
