Born on October 3, 1910 in Keystone, West Virginia, Bob Bowman (Robert James Bowman) played for the St. Louis Cardinals, New York Giants and Chicago Cubs over the course of his 4 year career. Bowman broke into the bigs on April 21, 1939 with the St. Louis Cardinals, and put up a 2.60 ERA in 169.1 innings pitched in 1939, his rookie year.
Most people believe that Bob Bowman's best season was 1939, when he posted a 2.60 ERA, won 13 games and struck out 78 batters.
