Robert James (Robert Dematrice James) was born on July 7, 1947 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. After going to high school at Holloway (Murfreesboro, TN), James attended Fisk University. James made his professional debut in the AFL in 1969 with the Buffalo Bills. He played in the AFL for 1 year, playing for the Buffalo Bills the entire time. James also played in the NFL for 5 years, playing for the Buffalo Bills the entire time.
Most people believe that 1971 was Robert James's best year, as he picked off 4 passes and ran back a fumble for a touchdown.
