Born on December 19, 1944 in Binghamton, New York, Rob Gardner (Richard Frank Gardner) played for the New York Mets, Chicago Cubs, Cleveland Indians, New York Yankees, Oakland Athletics and Milwaukee Brewers over the course of his 8 year career. Gardner broke into the bigs on September 1, 1965 with the New York Mets, and put up a 5.12 ERA in 133.2 innings pitched in 1966, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Rob Gardner's best season was 1972, when he posted a 3.06 ERA and struck out 58 batters.
