Rico Petrocelli (Americo Peter Petrocelli) was born on June 27, 1943 in Brooklyn, New York. He made his Major League debut on September 21, 1963 for the Boston Red Sox. In 1965, his rookie year, he hit .232 with 13 home runs and 33 RBI. Petrocelli played for the Boston Red Sox for his entire 13 year career.

Most people believe that Rico Petrocelli's best season was 1969, when he slugged 40 home runs, hit for a .297 average and knocked in 97 runs.
