Ray Poole (Ray Smith Poole) was born on April 15, 1921 in Gloster, Mississippi. After going to high school at Natchez (MS), Poole attended the University of Mississippi and the University of North Carolina. Poole made his professional debut in the NFL in 1947 with the New York Giants. He played for the New York Giants for his entire 6 year career.

Most people believe that 1948 was Ray Poole's best year, as he hauled in 35 receptions.
