Pug Vaughan (Charles Wesley Vaughan) was born on March 11, 1908 in Knoxville, Tennessee. After going to high school at Knoxville (TN), Vaughan attended the University of Tennessee. Vaughan made his professional debut in the NFL in 1935 with the Detroit Lions. He played for the Chicago Cardinals and Detroit Lions over the course of his 7 year career.

Most people believe that 1936 was Pug Vaughan's best year.
