Born on May 19, 1874 in Bowdoinham, Maine, Pop Williams (Walter Merrill Williams) played for the Washington Senators, Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Phillies and Boston Beaneaters over the course of his 3 year career. Williams broke into the bigs on September 14, 1898 with the Washington Senators, and put up a 2.51 ERA in 254.1 innings pitched in 1902, his rookie year.
