This game recap was originally written for my blog, Black And Gold Sports.
Freddy Sanchez drove in 5 runs, a career-high, in the Buccos 13-3 win over San Fran.
SCORING BREAKDOWN
4th Inning- The game was quiet until the 4th inning where the Buccos opened up the scoring. Freddy Sanchez hit a home run with Jose Bautista on base to make it 2-0. The next batter was Adam LaRoche, who hit another home run to make it 3-0. Later in the inning Jose Castillo grounded out, but it brought in Ryan Doumit to bring the score to 4-0. Even Tony Armas helped out the offense, hitting a double to right field that drove in Jack Wilson. The Giants also scored in the 4th off of a solo homer by Randy Winn.
6th Inning- In the sixth Jose Castillo grounded out again, this time into a double play, but it still brought in Jason Bay to bring the score to 6-1 in favor of Pittsburgh.
7th Inning-Freddy Sanchez added to his RBI count with a single that scored Bautista. The Giants did damage in the inning too, starting with a Ryan Klesko single to bring in Ray Durham. After that, down 7-2 with the bases loaded, Roberts walked to bring in Ryan Klesko and make the score 7-3.
9th Inning- The Bucs closed the game, scoring 6 runs in the final inning. Phelps and McClouth scored thanks to Freddy Sanchez, Bautista and Sanchez scored off the bat of Adam LaRoche, LaRoche scored off an RBI single from Castillo, and Phelps brought in Doumit on a sac fly.
PITCHING BREAKDOWN
Pirates- Tony Armas pitched 6.0 innings and had 2 K's in the win. It brought his record to 2-3. He was helped by bullpen work of Chacon, Marte, Torres, and Osoria. They combined for 3.0IP and 1K.
Giants- San Fran gave the start to Lincecum, who ended up dropping his record to 6-3. he had 8K's in his 6IP. He was relieved by Correia, who then left the game to Wilson, Kline, and Messenger. The Giants combined for a total of 10K's
