Phil Mcconkey (Philip Joseph McConkey) was born on February 24, 1957 in Buffalo, New York. After going to high school at Canisius (Buffalo, NY), Mcconkey attended United States Naval Academy. Mcconkey made his professional debut in the NFL in 1984 with the New York Giants. He played for the New York Giants and San Diego Chargers over the course of his 6 year career.

Most people believe that 1985 was Phil Mcconkey's best year, as he had 442 punt return yards.
