Phil Garner (Philip Mason Garner) was born on April 30, 1949 in Jefferson City, Tennessee. He made his Major League debut on September 10, 1973 for the Oakland Athletics. In 1975, his rookie year, he hit .246 with 6 home runs and 54 RBI. Garner played for the Oakland Athletics, Pittsburgh Pirates, Houston Astros, Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants over the course of his 16 year career.

Most people believe that Phil Garner's best season was 1977, when he slugged 17 home runs, stole 32 bases and knocked in 77 runs.
