[edit] Biography

Born on February 27, 1966 in Abington, Massachusetts, Pete Smith (Peter John Smith) played for the Atlanta Braves, New York Mets, Cincinnati Reds, San Diego Padres and Baltimore Orioles over the course of his 11 year career. Smith broke into the bigs on September 8, 1987 with the Atlanta Braves, and put up a 3.69 ERA in 195.1 innings pitched in 1988, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Pete Smith's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1988, when he posted a 3.69 ERA and struck out 124 batters. However, others believe that it was 1992, when he posted a 2.05 ERA.
