Born on October 25, 1971 in Manoguayabo, Distrito Nacional (Dominican Republic), Pedro Martinez (Pedro Jaime Martinez) played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Montreal Expos, Boston Red Sox and New York Mets over the course of his 15 year career. Martinez broke into the bigs on September 24, 1992 with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and put up a 2.61 ERA in 107 innings pitched in 1993, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Pedro Martinez's best season was 1999, when he posted a 2.07 ERA, won 23 games and struck out 313 batters.
