Born on November 29, 1968 in Villa Mella, Distrito Nacional (Dominican Republic), Pedro Martinez (Pedro (Aquino) Martinez) played for the San Diego Padres, Houston Astros, New York Mets and Cincinnati Reds over the course of his 5 year career. Martinez broke into the bigs on June 29, 1993 with the San Diego Padres, and put up a 2.90 ERA in 68.1 innings pitched in 1994, his rookie year.
Most people believe that Pedro Martinez's best season was 1994, when he posted a 2.90 ERA and struck out 52 batters.
