Born on September 29, 1932 in Winona, Minnesota, Paul Giel (Paul Robert Giel) played for the New York Giants, San Francisco Giants, Pittsburgh Pirates, Minnesota Twins and Kansas City Athletics over the course of his 6 year career. Giel broke into the bigs on July 10, 1954 with the New York Giants, and put up a 3.39 ERA in 82.1 innings pitched in 1955, his rookie year.
