Born on January 6, 1963 in Fort Polk, Louisiana, Norm Charlton (Norman Wood Charlton) played for the Cincinnati Reds, Seattle Mariners, Philadelphia Phillies, Baltimore Orioles, Atlanta Braves and Tampa Bay Devil Rays over the course of his 13 year career. Charlton broke into the bigs on August 19, 1988 with the Cincinnati Reds, and put up a 3.96 ERA in 61.1 innings pitched in 1988, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Norm Charlton's best season was 1992, when he posted a 2.99 ERA, notched 26 saves and struck out 90 batters.
