Born on January 31, 1947 in Refugio, Texas, Nolan Ryan (Lynn Nolan Ryan) played for the New York Mets, California Angels, Houston Astros and Texas Rangers over the course of his 27 year career. Ryan broke into the bigs on September 11, 1966 with the New York Mets, and put up a 3.09 ERA in 134 innings pitched in 1968, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Nolan Ryan's best season was 1973, when he posted a 2.87 ERA, won 21 games and struck out 383 batters.
