No. 8 Georgetown upset by ODU

8
Vote

Georgetown, the No. 8 team in the nation, lost to Old Dominion Sunday night 75-62 at McDonough Arena. Valdas Vasylius led the Monarchs (4-1) with 16 points and Arnaud Dahi chipped in 15 while Brandon Johnson scored 14. ODU outrebounded the taller Hoyas (2-1) 35-28.

ODU, the preseason pick to finish fourth in the Colonial Athletic Association, earned its first win over a ranked opponent since the Monarchs beat No. 9 Villanova 89-81 in triple overtime in the first round of the 1995 NCAA tournament.

Consequently, the Hoyas fell today from No. 8 to No. 16 in the latest ESPN/USA Today coaches' poll.
