Franchise History

Edit History

The Zephyrs begin play in 1993 as a Milwaukee Brewers affiliate. Their first game was a road game to Indianapolis that was scheduled to be played on April 8th, 1993, but the game had to be called due to rain. The game is made up on April 10th, and the team starts its history books with two wins in a doubleheader (official scores, first game: 4-2, second game: 6-1). The Zephyrs end their first season with a record of 80-64.

In 1997, the Zephyrs became an affiliate of the Houston Astros organization. Also in 1997, the team starts playing in Zephyr Field.

In 1998, the Zephyrs win the Pacific Coast League Eastern Division title (76-66). On September 19, 1998, The Zephyrs won their first PCL Championship (defeating Calgary), and go on to win the first AAA World Series on September 25, 1998, defeating Buffalo.

In 2001, the Zephyrs again win the Pacific Coast League Eastern Division title (82-57), and are named co-champions of the Pacific Coast League on September 12, 2001.

In 2005, the Zephyrs played their first season as the AAA Washington Nationals affiliate and ended the season with a record of 64-76.
