My Letter to....

Dear Mr. Belichick,

I'm a huge fan of the Indianapolis Colts but I wanted to say I think you are the greatest coach in the National Football League. I watch you every Sunday and use your strategy to learn the game of football better. It's exciting to see Tom Brady spread out your offense and use the many different weapons in your arsenal when other teams only have two or three. It's spectacular watching the other team's defense try and cope with the changeups you make. Your defense is one of the best. Stopping the run. Stopping the pass. There's absoutely nothing your team can't handle.

The reason I'm writing this letter is to tell you that I can no longer watch your team due to circumstances beyond my control. I was recently informed that you were caught cheating the game. Sources say the New England Patriots had a video assistant recording the Jets' defensive coaches in hopes of catching their defensive signals for your personal use. Is this true, Mr. Belichick? I've read the Commissioner has confiscated said tape and determined you are guilty of the accusations brought against you. Is this true? I also read the Commish is contemplating your punishment. If he's figuring out your punishment then the stories must be true.

Why, Mr. Belichick? Why? Why would you sully your reputation, sir? Your team is now under review. Your former employees who have teams of their own will come under review. Matter of fact, one of your former employees ratted you out because you were on his turf committing the act you are accused of. What about your fans? What about people like me who isn't a fan but have much respect for your football knowledge? I know it's done but you were warned to not do it. Are you even sorry about what has happened? You apologized to the team, the ownership, and the league but what did you apologize for... Are you sorry because you got caught or because you have tainted the integrity of your team?

I don't like feeling this way, Mr. Belichick. I don't like feeling betrayed by someone that has my utmost respect. What did we ever do to deserve this? I would hope you take my letter under advisement and not do this again. This was so beneath you, Mr. Belichick.

Sincerely and no longer a fan,

Kayos

Phil Sheradan of the Philly Inquirer made an interesting suggestions...

The pats have an amazing ability to adjust in the 2nd half...and the eagles and pats were tied after the 1st half of the super bowl...

Hmm...

I've lost a considerable amount of respect for the organization and the man...

Huh? Did he watch the same game that I did? That Super Bowl was tied through three quarters and the Patriots scored their last 3 points at the 6:20 mark. The Eagles scored on a 30-yd TD pass and were driving to at least get a tying FG before McNabb started puking and threw that pick. Nice revisionist history.

I think you might be a little off...

The eagles had the ball with about 5 minutes left down by 10...and they drove (incredibly slowly) to score...and cut the lead, and many wondered why they didn't run a hurry up, because it was a 2 score game...

Moreover, the pats scored in the 3rd and the eagles responded...and NE had 2 key picks in the 2nd half...

I'm not goign to debate this, because its incredibly dumb...but there are 2 reasons the pats won...the eagles didn't hurry up in those last 5 minutes...and the Pats defensive line (Richard Seymour was the MVP, IMO) played very well...

I agree with you. But none of the win (or loss depending on the perspective) should be attibuted to the Pats possibly stealing the Eagles' signs. That's just crazy talk.

Dear Kayos,

Is this true? Are you blowing something way out of proporton? Something that every team does? Are you completely dismissing a man's career because of one violation? If so, I'm afraid any respect I might have had for you as a sports fan will have to be re-earned after this sappy attempt at humor.

Sincerely,

Rawbeezeitz

Dear Rawbeezeitz,

Does it matter what I think or otherwise? How do you know every team does this? Haven't you completely dismissed a person or any person's career over one violation, like say Michael Vick or Barry Bonds? If so, then I think I'm entitled to my sappy attempt at humor.

Sincerely,

Kayos

ps If you can't take my humor for what it is...which is humor then don't bother respecting me at all because I don't care.

No, it doesn't matter what you think. And humor is supposed to be funny.

Kayos, I gotta agree with you. What the Pats did was definitely wrong, and Billicheck is an idiot. He apologizes to the team? It's more like he's stating a confession or something. I truly thought that Billicheck would've said something to the fans and to the Jets, at least.

Cheating is cheating. Even if you are my favorite team or player, I will say that I, as well as their fans, feel betrayed.

On behalf of the Patriots fans, I just want to say this:

I would like to say that I am sorry for what the Pats have done. I am sorry that Billicheck is an idiot for not apologizing to the right people, and I am sorry that this had to happen. Also, for the Pats fans who are trying to act like Barry Bonds by trying to defend themselves, just admit it. Even if the Pats cheated, it's still cheating and they got caught. They deserve to have at least one game forfeited, in my opinion. It was bad enough that Rodney Harrison took HGH, and now this?

Why should the game be forfeited? Someone's going to have to present a strong argument because that is a major punishment to be handed down.

They cheated. That's why the game should be forfeited. Plain n' simple. It's probably not gonna happen, but that's the way I see it.
