[edit] Biography

Born on September 3, 1922 in Dixon, Missouri, Morrie Martin (Morris Webster Martin) played for the Brooklyn Dodgers, Philadelphia Athletics, Chicago White Sox, Baltimore Orioles, St. Louis Cardinals, Cleveland Indians and Chicago Cubs over the course of his 10 year career. Martin broke into the bigs on April 25, 1949 with the Brooklyn Dodgers, and put up a 3.78 ERA in 138 innings pitched in 1951, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Morrie Martin's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1953, when he posted a 4.43 ERA, won 10 games and struck out 64 batters. However, others believe that it was 1954, when he posted a 3.52 ERA and struck out 55 batters.
