Monty Basgall (Romanus Basgall) was born on February 8, 1922 in Pfeifer, Kansas. He made his Major League debut on April 19, 1948 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 1949, his rookie year, he hit .218 with 2 home runs and 26 RBI. Basgall played for the Pittsburgh Pirates for his entire 3 year career.
