Merton Hanks (Merton Edward Hanks) was born on March 12, 1968 in Dallas, Texas. After going to high school at Lake Highlands (Dallas, TX), Hanks attended the University of Iowa. Hanks made his professional debut in the NFL in 1991 with the San Francisco 49ers. He played for the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks over the course of his 9 year career.
Most people believe that 1997 was Merton Hanks's best year, as he picked off 6 passes, ran back an interception for a touchdown and ran back a fumble for a touchdown.
