Melvin Nieves (Melvin (Ramos) Nieves) was born on December 28, 1971 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He made his Major League debut on September 1, 1992 for the Atlanta Braves. In 1995, his rookie year, he hit .205 with 14 home runs and 38 RBI. Nieves played for the Atlanta Braves, San Diego Padres, Detroit Tigers and Cincinnati Reds over the course of his 7 year career.

Most people believe that Melvin Nieves's best season was 1996, when he slugged 24 home runs and knocked in 60 runs.
