Mel Owens (Mel Tyrae Owens) was born on December 7, 1958 in Detroit, Michigan. After going to high school at DeKalb (IL), Owens attended the University of Michigan. Owens made his professional debut in the NFL in 1981 with the Los Angeles Rams. He played for the Los Angeles Rams for his entire 9 year career.
Most people believe that 1985 was Mel Owens's best year, as he recorded 9 sacks.
