Mel Jenkins (Melvin Jenkins) was born on March 16, 1962 in Jackson, Mississippi. After going to high school at Wingfield (Jackson, MS), Jenkins attended the University of Cincinnati. Jenkins made his professional debut in the NFL in 1987 with the Seattle Seahawks. He played for the Seattle Seahawks and Detroit Lions over the course of his 7 year career.
Most people believe that 1988 was Mel Jenkins's best year, as he picked off 3 passes.
