This is the tenth edition of the popular Meet the Users series, where The Beast will be interviewing a particular ArmchairGM user. The goal for the series is to allow all users to know each other better. The tenth edition goes to Donatevo
1. How did you learn about ArmchairGM?
I learned about AGM completely by accident. I was googling sports stories, and an AGM post came up on the list. It looked like fun to me, so I signed up. The rest is history. As most of you guys know, I'm the #1 giftgiver on the site. Of course, this fact has caused me a fair amount of grief, as I have received a few "asterisks" for my point total. But I'm also at #7 for friends, so something's working. It's all in good fun.
2. The Kansas City Chiefs have denied the notion that they are in a rebuilding mode. What is your take on the matter. Are they indeed rebuilding or simply in a transitional stage?
It's just in Herm's nature to deny that we're rebuilding. But I do feel like it's a more transitional period, than a rebuilding one. Obviously, we need to get some help on the offensive line. Actually, we need a ton of help there. But the defense is already better, and I believe Herm will keep improving it, with time. And then there's the quarterback position. I liked Brodie Croyle coming out of college. I still like him, but like all young quarterbacks, he is going to suffer through some growing pains. I mean, let's face it, he will throw some interceptions. But Herm wants to win now, and he's not ready to turn it over to Brodie just yet.
3. While Missouri did lose 41-31 last Saturday to Oklahoma, how would you grade their season so far? How will the rest of the year play?
I can't give Mizzou an A, because they would have had to beat Oklahoma to get an A. And honestly, I think if you change about 3 plays in that OU game, Missouri's right in it. They need to figure out how to win those games. So I guess I'll give them a B+ so far. As far as the rest of the season, of course I want to win them all. But it's a tough schedule, Texas Tech is tough, Iowa State showed last week that they can be tough, Colorado already beat Oklahoma, then Texas A&M, Kansas State, and Kansas. Those are all tough games. We should win them, but I thought we should have beaten the Sooners. So, we'll see.
4. Just face it, the Kansas City Royals have been the laughing stock of major league baseball for the past decade. Can they ever rekindle some of their past magic?
Just ask Minda33! She is just sure that next year is the year. She is dead serious. But I think Dayton Moore knows what he is doing, and I think if we can hold on to him, he'll get it done. Yeah, I know, I'm an eternal optimist, but I believe. Royals side note: The Royal's last winning season was 2003. That happened to be the year that the Royals hired me, to write their jingle. "Kansas City Royals, Your Hometown Team". I believe that my jingle was the single biggest boost to the Royals that year, inspiring them to play winning ball. I'm just kidding. But I did write the jingle, I'm not kidding about that.
5. You are the tenth person to be interviewed for the Meet the Users series. Most users have loved the series but is there anything that can be done to improve it? A Flashy Format like the Friday Fryer? Better Questions? More of a dialogue?
5. I love this series. The only thing that I would say, is to try and make sure that the questions are truly personal to that person. I'm not talking so much about me, although my greatest love is Missouri wrestling. But when you interviewed Intermat, I thought you could have kept a little more focused on his wrestling background. But I think you do a great job on this series, keep it up.
