Mayes Mclain (Mayes Watt McLain) was born on April 16, 1905 in Pryor, Oklahoma. After going to high school at Pryor (OK), Mclain attended Haskell Indian Nations University and the University of Iowa. Mclain made his professional debut in the NFL in 1930 with the Portsmouth Spartans. He played for the Staten Island Stapletons and Portsmouth Spartans over the course of his 2 year career.
