Max Reed (John Maxwell Reed) was born on February 15, 1902 in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. After going to high school at Lewisburg (PA), Reed attended Bucknell University. Reed made his professional debut in the NFL in 1925 with the Buffalo Bisons. He played for the Frankford Yellow Jackets, New York Giants and Buffalo Bisons over the course of his 4 year career.
