Max Bumgardner (Max Andrew Bumgardner) was born on May 13, 1923 in Wichita Falls, Texas. After going to high school at Wichita Falls (TX), Bumgardner attended the University of Texas. Bumgardner made his professional debut in the NFL in 1948 with the Detroit Lions. He played for the Detroit Lions for his entire 1 year career.
