[edit] Biography

Born on April 1, 1970 in Champaign, Illinois, Matt Herges (Matthew Tyler Herges) played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Montreal Expos, San Francisco Giants, San Diego Padres, Arizona Diamondbacks and Florida Marlins over the course of his 8 year career. Herges broke into the bigs on August 3, 1999 with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and put up a 3.17 ERA in 110.2 innings pitched in 2000, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Matt Herges's best season was 2000, when he posted a 3.17 ERA, won 11 games and struck out 75 batters.

Herges was also one of the players named in baseball's Mitchell Report. According to the report, Herges was introduced to former Mets clubhouse attendant Kirk Radomski by teammate Paul Lo Duca. Radomski alleges that he had made two or three sales of HGH to Herges between 2004 and 2005. Herges contacted Radomski while Radomski was under federal investigation in order to secure more HGH. There is also a check written by Herges to Radomski dated November 1, 2005 for the amount of $3,240, which covered 2 kits of HGH and a $40 shipping fee.

Herges declined to speak with investigators for the Mitchell Report.
