Born on March 31, 1918 in Los Molinas, California, Marv Grissom (Marvin Edward Grissom) played for the New York Giants, Detroit Tigers, Chicago White Sox, Boston Red Sox, San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals over the course of his 10 year career. Grissom broke into the bigs on September 10, 1946 with the New York Giants, and put up a 3.74 ERA in 166 innings pitched in 1952, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Marv Grissom's best season was 1954, when he posted a 2.35 ERA, won 10 games, notched 19 saves and struck out 64 batters.
