Marty McManus (Martin Joseph McManus) was born on March 14, 1900 in Chicago, Illinois. He made his Major League debut on September 26, 1920 for the St. Louis Browns. In 1921, his rookie year, he hit .260 with 3 home runs and 64 RBI. McManus played for the St. Louis Browns, Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox and Boston Braves over the course of his 15 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Marty McManus's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1929, when he slugged 18 home runs, hit for a .280 average and knocked in 90 runs. However, others believe that it was 1922, when he hit for a .312 average and knocked in 109 runs.
