Born on June 30, 1912 in Sacramento, California, Manny Salvo (Manuel Salvo) played for the New York Giants, Boston Braves and Philadelphia Phillies over the course of his 5 year career. Salvo broke into the bigs on April 22, 1939 with the New York Giants, and put up a 4.63 ERA in 136 innings pitched in 1939, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Manny Salvo's best season was 1940, when he posted a 3.08 ERA, won 10 games and struck out 60 batters.
