Louisville thrashes Temple without Bush

12
Vote

George Stripling and Sergio Spencer each ran for two touchdowns, making Louisville fans forget about Michael Bush at least for the time being. The running back duo led No. 13 Louisville to 2-0 win over Temple on Saturday.

Heisman Trophy hopeful, Brian Brohm showcased his skills as he threw for 307 yards and a score.

The 6-6 Mario Urrutia had five catches for 110 yards and a touchdown, and the Cardinals finished with 671 yards of total offense - the fifth-highest total in school history. The winning margin on the road was the third-highest in team history.

With a game against Miami next week, the lowly Owls (0-2) were a perfect tuneup for the redesigned backfield now that Bush is lost for the season with a broken leg. Bush led the nation in scoring last year, averaging 14.4 points per game while scoring a school-record 23 touchdowns, but was injured on the second play of the second half in the opener against Kentucky.

After playing lowly Temple and Kentucky, the Cardinals face their first real test, next week at home against Miami.

That was me! With a 40 point spread, you had to wonder if the Cards would cover it. Besides, if Louisville goes all the way (which I'm sure they will) I'll look like a genius.

Why would you have to wonder that? Why would you care? Why do you think that pummeling the WORST DIV I-A SCHOOL IN THE COUNTRY is one step closer to making you look like a genius? Ohio State just whipped Texas in Texas, amassing well over 300 yards of totall offense. But you still think that Louisville is going all the way, because they've beat the crap out of Temple and Kentucky?

My dad thinks I'm an idiot for picking Louisville numero uno. He won't tell anyone that I did. He thinks I'm saying something dumb.

Thanks for rubbing it in... picking on "lowly" TU Football is like stealing lunch money from a blind retarded kid with no legs. Let's see, basketball season is only 2 months away.... (jerk =)

Like I REALLY care about Temple Football - hey during the 90's we whooped Rutgers every year, maybe there IS hope... pffft!

Long Live Lance Johnstone!!! (and his very kickable ass on Madden)

It's Temple, folks. Your local high school team would be a favorite against Temple football.

Temple is the worst Division I program. But still, putting up 62 on the board with a star running back out should be good news to Louisville fans.

Wow...there's a story here about Louisville beating LITERALLY the worst Div. I-A school in the country, but not an article about the OSU-UT game. Wow.

I'm assuming 99% of people on this site watched OSU v UT, The Beast is probably the only one that bothered with Lousiville/Temple because he's trying to prove to the entire rest of the sporting world that Louisville is a more viable #1 than Ohio State. That and he's trying to earn his father's love. :-)

ASwaff... you don't have to keep saying bad things about Temple football. The football team might suck, but those dudes are tough. There's no better place in the world to get mugged than Broad and Diamond Streets.
