George Stripling and Sergio Spencer each ran for two touchdowns, making Louisville fans forget about Michael Bush at least for the time being. The running back duo led No. 13 Louisville to 2-0 win over Temple on Saturday.
Heisman Trophy hopeful, Brian Brohm showcased his skills as he threw for 307 yards and a score.
The 6-6 Mario Urrutia had five catches for 110 yards and a touchdown, and the Cardinals finished with 671 yards of total offense - the fifth-highest total in school history. The winning margin on the road was the third-highest in team history.
With a game against Miami next week, the lowly Owls (0-2) were a perfect tuneup for the redesigned backfield now that Bush is lost for the season with a broken leg. Bush led the nation in scoring last year, averaging 14.4 points per game while scoring a school-record 23 touchdowns, but was injured on the second play of the second half in the opener against Kentucky.
After playing lowly Temple and Kentucky, the Cardinals face their first real test, next week at home against Miami.
