Born on September 8, 1926 in St. Louis, Missouri, Lou Sleater (Louis Mortimer Sleater) played for the St. Louis Browns, Washington Senators, Kansas City Athletics, Milwaukee Braves, Detroit Tigers and Baltimore Orioles over the course of his 7 year career. Sleater broke into the bigs on April 25, 1950 with the St. Louis Browns, and put up a 5.11 ERA in 81 innings pitched in 1951, his rookie year.
