Lewis Colbert (Lewis Welton Colbert) was born on August 23, 1963 in Phenix City, Alabama. After going to high school at Glenwood Academy (Phenix City, AL), Colbert attended Auburn University. Colbert made his professional debut in the NFL in 1986 with the Kansas City Chiefs. He played for the Kansas City Chiefs and San Diego Chargers over the course of his 3 year career.

Most people believe that 1986 was Lewis Colbert's best year, as he dropped 23 punts inside the 20 and had a 40.7 yard punt average.
