[edit] Biography

Born on February 1, 1968 in Dublin, Ohio, Kent Mercker (Kent Franklin Mercker) played for the Atlanta Braves, Cleveland Indians, Baltimore Orioles, Cincinnati Reds, St. Louis Cardinals, Boston Red Sox, Anaheim Angels, Colorado Rockies and Chicago Cubs over the course of his 17 year career. Mercker broke into the bigs on September 22, 1989 with the Atlanta Braves, and put up a 2.58 ERA in 73.1 innings pitched in 1991, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Kent Mercker's best season was 1994, when he posted a 3.45 ERA and struck out 111 batters.

Mercker was also one of the players named in baseball's Mitchell Report. According to former Mets clubhouse attendant Kirk Radomski, he sold Mercker one kit of HGH in 2002, when Mercker was recovering from Tommy John surgery. Mercker paid by check, and Radomski was able to produce this check for the investigators. While searching Radomski's house, federal agents discovered an Express Mail receipt with Mercker's name on it dated October 29, 2002.

Like many players, Mercker did not respond to interview requests that investigators for the Mitchell Report made.
