Born on February 20, 1983 in Manakin Sabot, Virginia, Justin Verlander (Justin Brooks Verlander) played for the Detroit Tigers for his entire 2 year career. Verlander broke into the bigs on July 4, 2005 with the Detroit Tigers, and put up a 3.63 ERA in 186 innings pitched in 2006, his rookie year. On June 12, 2007, Verlander pitched a no-hitter against the Milwaukee Brewers.

  • Verlander's no-hitter was the first ever at Comerica Park, which opened in 2000. It was also the first no-hitter thrown by a Tiger pitcher since Jack Morris in 1984.
  • Verlander is the only pitcher in MLB history to throw a no-hitter, start a World Series game, get voted as Rookie of the Year, and become an All-Star in his first two full seasons.
