Johnny Woitt

Johnny Woitt (John Merit Woitt) was born on June 29, 1946 in Yakima, Washington. After going to high school at Pascagoula (MS), Woitt attended Mississippi State University. Woitt made his professional debut in the NFL in 1968 with the San Francisco 49ers. He played for the San Francisco 49ers for his entire 2 year career.
Most people believe that 1969 was Johnny Woitt's best year, as he ran back an interception for a touchdown. The pass he intercpted was from all time great Johnny Unitus! The interception that he ran back for a touchdown helped to break the extended losing streak of the 49 'ers to the Colts. The following season Johnny Woitt was released, and headed to Denver where he did not make the cut.
Johnny Woitt decided to move on and become a school teacher. He also coached the High School Football team of the school he taught at. He coached the team to a State championship. He than hang up Football all together as he moved from Teach/ Coach, to school Principal.
