Johnny Sylvester (John J. Sylvester) was born on January 14, 1923 in Norristown, Pennsylvania. After going to high school at Norristown (PA), Sylvester attended Temple University. Sylvester made his professional debut in the AAFC in 1947 with the New York Yankees. He played for the Baltimore Colts and New York Yankees over the course of his 2 year career.
Most people believe that 1947 was Johnny Sylvester's best year.
