Johnny Jones (Johnny Jones) was born on April 4, 1958 in Lawton, Oklahoma. After going to high school at Lampasas (TX), Jones attended the University of Texas. Jones made his professional debut in the NFL in 1980 with the New York Jets. He played for the New York Jets for his entire 5 year career.
Johnny Jones was drafted by the New York Jets from the University of Texas with the second overall pick in the 1980 NFL Draft. He played wide receiver for the Jets from 1980-84. Since Jones was a world class sprinter, he could beat any coverage, but had trouble catching the football. Many consider him to be the start of the New York Jets draft problems.
Most people believe that 1983 was Johnny Jones's best year, as he hauled in 43 receptions, had 734 receiving yards and caught 4 TD passes.
