Born on August 21, 1966 in San Mateo, California, John Wetteland (John Karl Wetteland) played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Montreal Expos, New York Yankees and Texas Rangers over the course of his 12 year career. Wetteland broke into the bigs on May 31, 1989 with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and put up a 3.77 ERA in 102.2 innings pitched in 1989, his rookie year.

Most people believe that John Wetteland's best season was 1993, when he posted a 1.37 ERA, notched 43 saves and struck out 113 batters.
