Born on October 13, 1946 in Belle Fourche, South Dakota, John Strohmayer (John Emery Strohmayer) played for the Montreal Expos and New York Mets over the course of his 5 year career. Strohmayer broke into the bigs on April 29, 1970 with the Montreal Expos, and put up a 4.86 ERA in 76 innings pitched in 1970, his rookie year.

Most people believe that John Strohmayer's best season was 1971, when he posted a 4.34 ERA and struck out 56 batters.
