Born on September 12, 1947 in Newport News, Virginia, John Montague (John Evans Montague) played for the Montreal Expos, Philadelphia Phillies, Seattle Mariners and California Angels over the course of his 7 year career. Montague broke into the bigs on September 9, 1973 with the Montreal Expos, and put up a 3.16 ERA in 82.2 innings pitched in 1974, his rookie year.

Most people believe that John Montague's best season was 1977, when he posted a 4.29 ERA and struck out 98 batters.
