Joe Torre (Joseph Paul Torre) was born on July 18, 1940 in Brooklyn, New York. He made his Major League debut on September 25, 1960 for the Milwaukee Braves. In 1961, his rookie year, he hit .278 with 10 home runs and 42 RBI. Torre played for the Milwaukee Braves, Atlanta Braves, St. Louis Cardinals and New York Mets over the course of his 17 year career.

Most people believe that Joe Torre's best season was 1971, when he slugged 24 home runs, hit for a .363 average and knocked in 137 runs.

Joe Torre is the current manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers, after managing the New York Yankees from 1996 through the 2007 season.
