Born on February 4, 1942 in Massillon, Ohio, Joe Sparma (Joseph Blase Sparma) played for the Detroit Tigers and Montreal Expos over the course of his 7 year career. Sparma broke into the bigs on May 20, 1964 with the Detroit Tigers, and put up a 3.00 ERA in 84 innings pitched in 1964, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Joe Sparma's best season was 1967, when he posted a 3.76 ERA, won 16 games and struck out 153 batters.
